The fastest selling books of all time have caused quite a controversy in the media, whether it be criticizing the book, or praising it. Having read the books myself I can see how many people are outraged by it, but to be honest, I think it's a very good read! Yes the language is very explicit and it conveys wrong morals/messages in some chapters, but all-in-all, it's a very entertaining and keeps the readers wanting more. Many women across the country are hooked on this book and can't put it down! Every woman who's read the books now has their own interpretation of what the erotic and allusive Christian Grey looks like etched in their minds, who wouldn't want a man like him!? (aside all the psychological problems) he's everything a woman would want! I don't think no woman could turn round and say they weren't the slightest bit jealous of Anastasia Steele for capturing his heart! I certainly was! Reading these books I laughed, cried and was even jealous at writing on a page! But that's what books are all about, they're supposed to make you feel different emotions, that's what makes them brilliant! But in all fairness, the books aren't actually written very well. In actual fact many of the scenes in the first book are actually taken from the film 'Pretty Woman' so the author can't have had much inspiration if they copied it from a film.
The books have caused grief for many married couples, but at the same time enhanced some too. Some marriages have actually ended because of the books, because women thought they could find a lot better than what they already had. But some couples have actually used the books to improve their relationships, sending favourite snippets of the chapters to each-other and also using e-mail services instead of texting, mimicking the book. Which is why it's caused controversy in the media. All the stories about how it's to corrupting for young people's minds and how the language is to explicit to be in a book, but if people like reading it, who cares what the media think!?
But what if the author is actually a man? A man who's published under a false name. I mean, let's be honest. It's every guys dream to have a woman do the sort of things that are mentioned in the book, no guy would ever turn anything like that down! So let's explore the theory of ' EL James' being a man, to be honest, I wouldn't be surprised.
So if you're looking for an exceptionally good read, or just looking for erotic books, then Fifty Shades of Grey is just for you! I definitely recommend them all!
